My first day at WPC in Los Angeles was a blast and a really great learning opportunity. You don’t know what you don’t know is what I always say and this day was no different. I connected with some of our existing vendors such as LabTech who directed me over to their tightly integrated partner at ConnectWise who gave me a 45 minute demonstration on their product. It’s definitely something that might work for our business so I spent the time to see how it could improve things for us and I certainly found a lot of valuable information.
I spent the afternoon touring around the vendor exhibits and also talking to partners from all over the world. It’s pretty cool to hear different languages as you’re walking throughout the floor, it almost reminds me of the Vancouver Olympics when there were so many people from all over. Just this time it is a bunch of computer folks.
One individual I met was in a similar boat as us several years ago when he had 6 employees (we have 5) and they made some strategic decisions that propelled them to over 25 employees today. It was really inspiring and I’m looking forward to picking his brain some more.
The day wouldn’t be perfect without some sort of party and I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Office 365 Partner Reception Party. I met a lot of really interesting people here from the UK to Japan, to Germany, you can name it. It was a lot of fun to share ideas and get to know what others are doing to build their businesses in their corners of the world.
I’ve attached some photo’s of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which is where the reception was held.
